Jammu, Oct 31 (GNS): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet against a dental doctor for allegedly duping a man of Rs 5.50 lakh on pretext of providing government job in Health Department.

In a handout to GNS, CBJ said, chargesheet has been filed before the Court of Special Municipal Mobile Magistrate Jammu in FIR No. 03/2024 U/S 420 RPC registered at Police Station Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu against accused Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan, resident of Gujjar Nagar Jammu.

Case originated from written complaint lodged by one Johar Hafeez who alleged that accused, claiming to have influential contacts in Civil Secretariat, assured him of securing appointment as Junior Assistant in Health Department and took Rs 5.50 lakh from him.

During investigation, statements of complainant, bank officials and other witnesses were recorded. Probe conducted by Inspector Taranjeet Singh corroborated transfer of Rs 5.50 lakh from complainant’s bank account into account of accused, substantiating allegations of cheating. Investigation further revealed accused Dr. Liaqat Ali is a dental doctor and is reportedly involved in several other cases registered in Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu.

On basis of substantial oral, documentary and electronic evidence including bank statements, transaction records, electronic chat communications and service records, offence U/S 420 RPC has been established and chargesheet produced before Hon’ble Court for judicial determination.

Meanwhile, SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu has advised general public to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and report any such incident to Crime Branch. Victims can submit complaints via email at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.in or contact on 0191-2578901.(GNS)
