Srinagar, April 24 (GNS): A militant of Al-Badr outfit was arrested in Budgam district of central Kashmir, police said on Saturday.
“Based on specific information about presence of militants, Budgam Police along with 53RR and 181Bn CRPF launched a joint search operation in village Nagbal of Chrar-i-Sharif. During search, a recently joined (militants) linked with Al-Badr was arrested,” a police spokesman said. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat of Bathpora Arwani Anantnag.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that he was in close contact with the handlers of the Al-Badr across the border in Pakistan and also active militants of the outfit in South Kashmir.”
The spokesman claimed recovery of arms and ammunition including one Chinese pistol, its Magazine, 14 rounds, two AK Magazine, 58 AK rounds and incriminating materials the Al-Badr.
In this regard, he said, a case (FIR No. 24/2021) under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Chrar-i-Sharif and further investigation is in progress. (GNS)
