Kupwara, Jun 9 : Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam-ud-Din Wednesday in the presence of other senior defence and civil officials inaugurated a fifty-bedded Covid-care Centre at Army Goodwill School in Wayne here.

The dedicated care facility setup by Army’s ‘Kupwara Terriers’ under the aegis of Headquarters 28 Infantry Division has came up for treating of civilians referred from regular hospitals in the district.

A senior army officer on the occasion said that the facility has an experienced and dedicated team of Army doctors and paramedics to take care of Covid-19 patients. It houses a Pathology lab and a dispensary to cater for COVID prescriptions free of cost, he said.

“The setting up of the care facility is an extension to the regular endeavors by Army to consolidate the hands of civil administration in its fight against the deadly virus especially amid the second wave”, he said.

Besides Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, the inaugural event was also attended by army officers, CMO Kupwara and other higher and lower-rung officials.

DC Kupwara Imam-ud-Din terming the setting up of the Covid-care facility as a ‘noble initiative’ further said that he feels overwhelmed by the much needed endeavor in these crucial times. “We assure that all sorts of possible support will be extended whenever needed”, Din said.
