September 26: Continuing its sustained efforts to curb the drug menace and dismantle the network of drug peddlers, police arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party from Police Station Bijbehara during naka checking on Tulkhan–Bijbehara road intercepted a suspicious person identified as Fiyaz Ahmed Sheikh son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh resident of Fruit Mandi Parimpora, Srinagar, A/P Eidgah Bijbehara. During checking, 40 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he was arrested and shifted to police station.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved in the illegal drug trade.
Police reiterated its commitment to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and strengthening efforts towards a drug-free society.
