New Delhi, April 22 : Patiala House Court on Wednesday reserved its order on the interim bail plea of Baramulla Member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh (Er. Rashid), who has sought temporary release to meet his ailing father admitted on a ventilator.
Sources told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) MP Er. Rashid, currently in custody, moved the court seeking interim bail on medical grounds. The plea was heard by the court, where the National Investigation Agency (NIA) opposed the request, citing a confidential report. The agency submitted that interim bail should not be granted but indicated that custody parole could be considered instead.
During the hearing, the court took the submissions on record and reserved its order. The matter has now been listed for pronouncement on April 24 sources said.
Notably, Er Rashid, who represents Baramulla in Parliament, has been in custody in connection with an NIA case. His legal team argued that he needed immediate access to his father’s critical condition, while the prosecution maintained its opposition based on security considerations. (KNS)
