Baramulla | 07 April 2026: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Baramulla Police apprehended two persons during an Area Domination Patrol in the Jal Sahib area of Old Town.At around 22:05 hrs, the duo, moving from Jal Sahib towards Bag-e-Salam, tried to flee on noticing the police party but were tactfully apprehended. They were identified as Farooq Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Qadir Bhat and Nisar Ahmad War S/o Abdul Rehman War, both residents of Khwaja Sahib, Old Town Baramulla.
During search, 9 grams of brown sugar was recovered from Nisar Ahmad War and 8 grams from Farooq Ahmad Bhat. The substance was tested on the spot and confirmed as narcotic.
Accordingly, FIR No. 36/2026 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, and investigation has been initiated.
Baramulla Police remains committed to eradicating the drug menace and seeks public cooperation in this regard.
