Budgam, June 29(GNS): Budgam Police have registered an FIR in connection with an incident at Hardpanzoo involving followers of different groups of the Shia community, officials said on Sunday.

In a handout to GNS, the Police said investigation into the matter is underway and all those found responsible for instigating or participating in unlawful activity will face strict action under law.

“Every aspect of the incident is being examined on the basis of evidence, and no individual found culpable will be spared, irrespective of affiliation,” police said in a statement, assuring a fair, impartial, and professional probe.

Police have also taken note of misleading and unverified content being circulated on social media regarding the incident, warning that such misinformation can create panic, disturb public order, and undermine communal harmony.

The public has been urged to exercise restraint and refrain from sharing rumours or inflammatory content. Citizens were advised to rely only on information from official sources.

Budgam Police said it is closely monitoring social media and warned that individuals creating or amplifying false or provocative content to mislead the public or disrupt peace will face stringent legal action.

Police appealed to all sections of society to maintain peace, uphold communal harmony, and cooperate with the investigation, reads the statement.(GNS)
