Srinagar, May 22 (GNS): Police on Friday arrested a butcher in central Kashmir’s Gandebal district for selling mutton at Rs 600 A police officer told GNS said the butcher identified as Reyaz Ahmad Rather of Saloora was arrested as Rs 600 per kilogram of mutton is against government fixed rate. Accordingly, he said a case (FIR NO. 103/2020) under section 3/7 EC Act has been registered at police station Ganderbal and further investigation into the matter has been initiated. “Police have requested the traders and shopkeepers not to indulge in overpricing, black marketing, hoarding or any violation of essential commodities otherwise strict action under law will be taken against the violators,” he said. Meanwhile, a police spokesman said two persons were arrested for violating government’s prohibitory orders in Kulgam. “Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly,” the spokesman added.
