Shopian, July 2(GNS) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to visit Shopian today to review the implementation of ongoing development initiatives and welfare schemes, and to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects valued at more than ₹76 crore.
Official sources told GNS that the Chief Minister’s day-long programme will include the inauguration, dedication, and foundation laying of several public infrastructure works aimed at strengthening the district’s overall development.
The projects cover key sectors such as road connectivity, drinking water supply, healthcare, education, and urban infrastructure, with emphasis on enhancing essential services and improving connectivity in the horticulture-dominated district.
During the visit, Omar Abdullah is also expected to interact with farmers and apple growers to discuss issues affecting the horticulture sector, including crop insurance, marketing facilities, cold storage infrastructure, and pest control measures.
Authorities have put in place comprehensive arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit, including security and traffic management. Senior officials from various government departments have been instructed to remain present at the designated venues, the sources added.(GNS)
