Departments instructed to accelerate awareness drives to ensure benefits of pension, financial security schemes reach to all eligible beneficiaries
SRINAGAR MAY 19: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive meeting here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to assess the progress achieved under various flagship welfare and pension schemes including Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, JK Samadhan, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana and National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons across the district.


During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner undertook a detailed sector-wise review of targets and achievements registered under the schemes aimed at providing social security, pension coverage and grievance redressal support to workers, farmers, traders and self-employed persons in the district.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was given a department wise brief through a detailed presentation highlighting the progress of PM-SYM, JK Samadhan, PM KMY and Traders & Self-Employment Pension Yojana in the district.


The DC reviewed the status of beneficiary registration, enrollment progress, awareness generation activities and overall implementation of the schemes by the concerned departments and agencies. He emphasized the need for intensified outreach efforts to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered under the schemes within the stipulated timelines.
Highlighting the significance of the schemes, the DC stated that the schemes are aimed at providing social security, pension coverage and grievance redressal support to workers, farmers, traders and self-employed persons in the district.


He further instructed line departments to work closely with field staff and other agencies to conduct on-the-spot registrations of the left-out population across the district, ensuring maximum outreach and coverage under the schemes.
With regard to implementation of the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons, the DC directed the General Manager DIC to begin implementation of the scheme in coordination with other line departments to achieve considerable progress by June 10, 2026.
The meeting was attended by IAS Probationer, Alfred Thomas, Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid, District Programme Officer, ICDS, Chief Planning Officer, General Manager DIC, Assistant Commissioner Development, Deputy Director, Tourism, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sericulture Officer, Assistant Commissioner, State Taxes, Deputy Director, Employment, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Floriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, AD Handicraft/Handloom, AD Food & Supplies, AD Fisheries, Assistant Labour Commissioner, ARTO, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, District health Officer, District Officer, KVIB/KVIC, District Programme Manager, NRLM, District Manager CSC and other concerned.
