Jammu: Ganderbal District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Nuzhat Ishfaq accompanied by the Jammu Kashmir United Movement President and former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar Monday met Lt Governor Manoj Sinha here at Raj Bhavan Jammu to discuss matters pertaining to the development and welfare of the people of the district.
The DDC Chairperson and the former MLA expressed their gratitude to the LG for his dedicated efforts in promoting the progress and prosperity of the region.
They submitted a memorandum addressing the status and sanctioning of new developmental projects. In the memorandum, they thanked the LG for addressing the issues faced by the people of Ganderbal.
During the meeting DDC Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq and Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar expressed their gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for his efforts in initiating the four-laning of the Pandach-Manigam road.
They also thanked him for releasing funds for the construction of the Paribal Takenwari bridge as well as for the development of the Lal Marag and Mohandmarag roads, completion of tendering process of New Ganderbal Hydro-electric Power Project and inclusion of Khudmarag Gutlibagh tourist destination 30 KM road in NABARD scheme.
The duo also raised several other important issues. They requested the Lieutenant Governor to expedite and start the work on the Ganderbal HEP-II power project on which tendering process has been completed and which would greatly enhance the power supply in the district.
Additionally DDC Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq and Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar urged the Lieutenant Governor to expedite the work on the Central University of Kashmir. They highlighted the importance of establishing a high-quality educational institution in the area and sought the government’s support in making it a reality.
Sanctioning of women’s degree college was raised by the duo and said that not having a women’s degree college in Ganderbal is one of the reasons that most students, particularly girls don’t pursue their studies after 12th due to the absence of a college,” they said.
The memorandum highlights the pending approval and act of appropriation, release of funds for the establishment of the Administrative Complex for Tehsil Tullamulla . They also highlighted the immediate release of funds for drugging and remodeling of Tullamulla Nallah. They demanded construction of Yatri Bhawan at Tullamulla and Ganderbal.
The leaders also demanded construction and completion of Akhal, Guzhama and other bridges.
They also raised the issue of defunct Ambulances of different PHCs of Ganderbal district.
They duo also demanded early completion of different ongoing PHE schemes in Ganderbal district. They discussed with him Lari Preng water supply scheme, Badurkund Scheme, Wutlar, Repora, Waliwar , Badampora, Gutlibagh, Khalmulla and other water supply schemes.
They also raised with him the issue of defunct tube wells and pump sheds which include Gogigund, Gadoora and other areas and demanded immediate restoration and upgradation of these tube wells and pump sheds.
They also demand establishment of Fire Service stations in Tullamulla , Faaq and Shairpathri areas. Sanctioning of Nayabat in Faaq area was also raised by the duo.
They raised the issue of Upgradation of schools which include Upgradation of Shallabugh high school to the level of Higher Secondary School.
Furthermore they brought up the issue of different projects which were taken up by JKPCC and said due to the closure of JKPCC these projects are going at a snail’s pace.
Creation and upgradation of transformers and issues relating to the improvement of HT/LT lines, replacement of poles in different areas of Ganderbal was also discussed.
The DDC Chairperson and JKUM president highlighted various developmental projects that have been initiated in Ganderbal district. They discussed the need for continued support and funding from the administration to ensure the successful execution of these projects.
The Chairperson also emphasized the importance of promoting tourism in the region considering Ganderbal’s natural beauty and potential for attracting tourists and demanded construction and completion of Tourist facilitation centres at Lalmarag and Mohandmarag.
In response LG Manoj Sinha assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to the holistic development of Ganderbal district. He pledged to provide all necessary support and resources required to complete ongoing projects and implement future initiatives effectively.
The LG also stressed the importance of maintaining transparency and accountability in government functioning ensuring that development schemes reach the grassroots level and benefit the common people. He encouraged the DDC Chairperson and the former MLA to actively participate in the district’s governance and engage with the local community to identify their needs and aspirations.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their resolve to work together towards the overall progress and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir and Ganderbal district. The DDC Chairperson and the former MLA thanked the LG for his time and commitment to the development of the area.
Such interactions between local representatives and the administration play a crucial role in fostering participatory governance and ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of the people are effectively addressed.
