Kupwara, Jul 13 (KG): Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam-ud-Din Tuesday visited the bereaved families of two minors who died after drowning in separate incidents in Lolab on Sunday last.
The Deputy Commissioner, as per Kashmir Glory, was accompanied by SDM Lolab, Tehsildar Lalpora, BDO Sogam, District Vice President Apni Party and several other middle and lower rung officials during which he visited to console the two bereaved families at Divar and Chandigam. While extending his sympathies with the family members of the deceased minors, the District Officer invoked the teachings of Quran and Hadith on the destiny of a being in this world. The visiting dignitary exhorted the families to exhibit patience on the tragic loss of the two minors and prayed for eternal peace to the souls of both victims.
Taking the occasion to urge the parents to remain more careful and cautious towards the safety of their children, the DC said that “It pained him to hear about the death of two minors, adding “This also exposes us to the fact that parents are somehow not taking proper care of their wards”, which according to him, lead to such incidents.
The visiting dignitary announced cash assistance to both the bereaved families from the Red Cross fund.
Reiterating his appeal to the parents, the DC said that “Parents should own their responsibility fully and not allow their wards to visit sites – water bodies – to avert any future tragedy.”
The DC assured that the matter regarding fencing of the open ponds would be taken up with the authorities concerned on a priority basis.
The DC later in the day visited Duroosa Lolab to assess the condition of tourist huts. After assessment the district officer assured that the issues regarding the renovation of the structures would be taken up with the Tourism Department at an earliest.
Several public delegations met the visiting dignitary on the eve and appraised him of various issues. On giving a patient hearing, the DC said that the issues have been taken into consideration for an early redressal. – Kashmir Glory News
