Continuing its drive against drug menace, Police Station Kupwara established a routine Naka (checkpoint) at Salkoot Kupwara. During checking, the Naka party apprehended one individual who was found to be in possession of narcotics. The accused has been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Khan S/o Mohd Yaseen Khan R/o Gutlipora Haihama. Upon his search, a substantial amount of Heroin & Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking.
In this regard, a case has FIR No. 275/2025 under Sections 8/20, 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara. Investigation into the matter has been taken up to trace the source and wider network, if any, involved in the illegal trade.
