Fake appointment orders, forged CID/Police verification used to deceive job seekers

Srinagar, July 26 (GNS): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against three persons for their alleged involvement in a fake government recruitment racket.

In a handout to GNS, the CBK said that officials said the chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 01/2026 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC.

The accused have been identified as Ghulam Mohd Sheikh @Gulzar, son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh, resident of Palpora Pamposh Colony, Noor Bagh, Srinagar; Mohd Yousuf Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, resident of Kunzer, Baramulla; and Mohd Abdullah Mir, son of Abdul Gaffar Mir, resident of Shivath, Tehsil Sumbal, Sonwari, District Bandipora.

According to EOW, the case was registered on a written complaint alleging that Ghulam Mohd Sheikh @Gulzar cheated complainants of ₹23 lakh on the false promise of providing government jobs.

During investigation, it was found that the accused had issued fake appointment orders, identity cards, licenses, and appointment letters. They also allegedly prepared forged Police and CID verification documents to make the offers look genuine.

EOW said the investigation established that the three accused acted in connivance to deceive the complainants and grab their hard-earned money. After collecting sufficient evidence, the chargesheet was filed in the court of law.

The Crime Branch has advised the public to remain vigilant against economic fraudsters. Victims can report such incidents to SSP, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K, or email complaints to sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in. (GNS)
