EOW Kashmir Files Chargesheet Against 4 In Multi-Crore Shawl Cheating Case

Srinagar, July 23 (GNS): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet against four persons in connection with a multi-crore shawl fraud case.

In a handout to GNS, CBK said that the chargesheet in FIR No. 55/2022 was filed before the Court of Sub Judge Small Causes, Srinagar, under Sections 420, 120-B, and 201 of the RPC.

The accused have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Shora @ Bilal, son of Late Abdul Rashid Shora, resident of Pakhribal Botakadal, Lalbazar, Srinagar; Firdous Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rehman Mir, resident of Abikarpora, Rainawari, A/P Madina Colony, Near R.P. School, Mallabagh, Srinagar; Firdous Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Afzal Bhat, resident of Amda Kadal, Lalbazar, Srinagar; and Aftab Ahmad Shah, son of Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, resident of Khawabazar, Nowhatta, Srinagar.

According to the EOW, the case pertains to a complaint that the accused, led by Arshid Ahmad Shora @ Bilal, induced the complainant to supply shawls worth over Rs 2.50 crore on the promise of profitable returns, but failed to make payment.

During investigation, 338 shawls valued at approximately Rs 68 lakh were recovered and handed over to the complainant on the directions of the Hon’ble Court.

The investigation has now been completed and the chargesheet filed in court.

The Crime Branch Kashmir has urged the public to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and to report any suspicious activities to the SSP, EOW Kashmir. Victims can also lodge complaints via email at sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in. (GNS)
