Srinagar, Jul 6 (GNS): A Forest Protection Force personnel sustained head injuries after being attacked by timber smugglers in Aglar area in Romshi Forest Range in southern Pulwama district last night , officials said on Tuesday.

They said that a squad was on a routine night patrolling in the area. “On intercepting a group of smugglers, the latter attacked the Forest Protection Force squad and one of the personnel got injured,” the officials told GNS.

Identifying the injured personnel as one Hilal Ahmad, they said that he has received five stitches on his head and is undergoing treatment at a health facility.

Taking advantage of the darkness, the smugglers fled from the scene, they said. However, the squad managed to seize the horses and illicit timber from the spot, they added. (GNS)
