Dua is a form of worship, a divine connection between the creator and his creation, the essence of Ibadah and the ultimate means of empowerment for a person. Rasoolullah s.a.w regarded dua as the best form of worship. An honest and sincere engagement in dua affirms a person’s belief in Allah, the logical result of which is the modification of a person’s moral character. It helps one to prevent himself from becoming rude and arrogant. Making dua has two major benefits; fulfillment of our needs and wants, and the rewards of worship. With each dua, the belief in Allah gets stronger. Dua is the most beautiful blessing. For a person who is sincere in his commitment to Allah, dua is always the first and last resort. Today our practices of making dua are totally distorted, we have reduced it to the level of some common ritual. It needs to be made a point to make dua for anything big or small i,e seeking Allah’s help before reaching the level of distress and hopelessness. It is an act of extraordinary significance, empowerment, liberation and upliftment.
Rasoolullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wa-sallam) said: “Whosoever desires that Allah answers his Duas in unfavorable and difficult conditions, he should make plentiful dua in days of ease and comfort.” Also, he (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wa-sallam) said: “The person who does not ask from Allah, Allah becomes angry with him.”
We turn to Allah because we know that he alone can lift our sufferings and solve our problems. We feel relieved after describing our difficulties to him. We feel empowered after having communicated with our creator. We sense his mercy all around us after talking to the Most Merciful. We get a new commitment to follow his path for that is the only path to success. We feel blessed with each such commitment.
It should be made a habit to make dua for ourself and others always. The dua of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is readily accepted.
May Allah grant acceptance to our duas and ease our sufferings. Aameen!
