Srinagar: Hours after Ghulam Nabi Azad alleged that Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah had been meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during night hours, the senior Abdullah hit back at incumbent Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) questioned as what is the reason he (Azad) has thought of defaming him?

Talking to a news agency, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that “…If I have to meet PM Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah, I will meet them during the day, why should I meet them at night?…what is the reason that he has thought of defaming Farooq Abdullah?.”

“When no one wanted to give him Rajya Sabha seat, I was the one who gave him Rajya Sabha seat… but today he is saying all this.”

“He should tell the names of his agents who are sitting at the residence of PM and Union Home Minister. He should tell people so that they can understand the truth…”, the JKNC President said.

Notably, the veteran politician made no mention of the charges levied by Azad about possible prior appraisal of decision of Government of India on revocation of Article 370.

Pertinent to mention here that the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad claimed that rumours swirled in Delhi that the Abdullahs had been taken into confidence about the decision (of Article 370 revocation), and had even suggested placing Valley leaders under house arrest.

Azad also claimed that the Abdullahs held clandestine meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah at night to avoid public scrutiny.
