Srinagar, Dec 5: Independent candidate contesting Municipality elections from Sarnal Payeen Anantnag on Saturday alleged some ‘malicious elements of carrying a smear campaign to tarnish her image’.
Sahila Jan a resident of Lal-chowk Anantnag who has filed her papers for upcoming Municipal elections for Ward number 16 from Sarnal Payeen (A) alleged that some people in the area are running a ‘smear campaign’ against her.
Terming the campaign as ‘false propaganda’ Jan maintained that “It was part of a conspiracy hatched by some persons to malign her reputation for their narrow political gains.”
Refuting link-up with any mainstream political party Jan said that she has opted for the elections purely as Independent candidate and as such my supporters and other people in the area should not pay heed to any of the false claims made by anyone.
Reiterating her stance, Jan said that she has filed her nomination papers as Independent candidate and those malicious elements spreading false information should be strictly dealt with by the law-enforcement agencies.
“People should come out en masse on the election day which is scheduled to be on December 16 to cast their ballot on my allotted symbol Gas Cylinder”, Jan said.
