July 17: In continuation of the ongoing anti-drug enforcement drive under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police apprehended a drug peddler during patrolling in the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand.
During patrolling at Neharpora, Sopore, a suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to personal search. During the search, psychotropic substance was recovered from his possession and seized in accordance with due legal procedure. The accused has been identified as Abid Fayaz Shah, son of Fayaz Ahmad Shah, resident of Neharpora Bagh Ali Street Sopore. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 174/2026 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider network involved.
Police reiterated that strict action against drug peddlers and traffickers will continue across the district. Every effort is being made to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem and prevent the spread of drugs among the youth. Police remains committed to the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan and will continue its sustained efforts to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
