July 17: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society, Shopian Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately 120 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.
During routine naka checking at Naghard Crossing, a police party from Police Post Wachi noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully intercepted him. During his personal search, approximately 120 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Yasir Altaf Allie son of Altaf Ahmad Allie resident of Melhura Zainapora. Accordingly, FIR No. 91/2026 under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been taken up to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the larger drug network involved.
