April 05: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, J&K Police arrests a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi during naka checking at Fruit Mandi Crossing, intercepted & apprehended a suspicious person. Upon personal search, Codeine Phosphate bottles and charas-like substance were recovered and seized as per due procedure. He has been identified as Sameem Javaid Shah, son of Javaid Ahmad Shah, resident of Neharpora Sopore. Accordingly, FIR No. 72/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
J&K Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirm their commitment to sustained enforcement to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
