Army, Police & CRPF Launch Massive Cordon-and-Search Operation in Gambhir Muglan Area
Rajouri, May 23 : An encounter erupted between security forces and terrorists in the Gambhir Muglan area of Rajouri district on Saturday after contact was established during a joint intelligence-led operation.
According to officials, the operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
In a statement posted on X, the White Knight Corps said that contact with terrorists was established at around 11:30 AM during the operation in Gambhir Muglan.
Officials said troops responded immediately with a calibrated and swift action, triggering an exchange of fire between security forces and the hiding terrorists.
Security forces have laid a tight cordon around the area to prevent any escape, while the anti-terror operation was continuing till the last reports came in.
Sources said additional reinforcements were rushed to the area and searches were intensified in the surrounding forest belt.
There was no immediate report of any casualty or arrest, while the number of terrorists believed to be trapped was yet to be officially confirmed.
