Samba, Jan 20: A car was completely gutted in a fire incident on the Ghagwal highway in the Baribrahmana area of Samba on Tuesday, triggering panic among commuters and drawing a large crowd to the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver noticed smoke emanating from the vehicle while driving and immediately stopped the car on the roadside. He managed to come out safely, but within moments, flames engulfed the vehicle. Locals said that a couple of blast like sounds were also heard as the fire intensified.
Before any firefighting or emergency response teams could reach the spot, the car was completely destroyed by the blaze. Hundreds of people gathered near the scene and watched as the vehicle continued to burn on the busy highway stretch, leading to a temporary disruption of traffic.
A police official said that the cause of the fire will be ascertained after a proper assessment. No injuries were reported in the incident. [KNT]
