Doda, Feb 20 : Doda Police have arrested an accused involved in the rape of a minor girl within hours of the registration of a case at Police Station Doda.
A police official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, a written complaint was received from Ravinder Ray, a resident of Goriyar Purab, Adivasi Rupauli (Bihar), alleging that his 16-year-old daughter was raped by Umesh Singh, son of Suresh Pasi, a resident of Maurawan, Unnao (Uttar Pradesh), at his rented accommodation near New Bus Stand Doda.
Acting on the complaint, FIR No. 36/2026 was registered under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act at Police Station Doda.
Police said the accused was apprehended within hours of the case being registered. He has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterated their commitment to strict action in crimes against women and children. (KNC)
