Kishtwar, Feb 12: In a major crackdown against bovine smuggling, Kishtwar Police have booked a habitual offender under the Public Safety Act (PSA), invoking preventive detention to curb activities deemed prejudicial to public order in the district.

As per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Kishtwar Police has tightened the noose around bovine smugglers by booking a notorious repeat offender under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

While sharing the details, SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Naresh Singh–JKPS, stated that Mushtaq Ahmed S/o Ghulam Shah R/o Shah Mohalla, Kurya Bridge, Kishtwar, has been detained under the provisions of the Public Safety Act.

The detention order was issued by the District Magistrate, Kishtwar, following a detailed dossier prepared by the police highlighting his repeated involvement in criminal activities related to bovine smuggling. The accused has subsequently been lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah.

The PSA warrant was executed by Insp. Vikram Singh, SHO Police Station Chattoo assisted by SI Roop Krishan, under the supervision of Dy. SP PC Dachhan Nitish Sharma-JKPS.

The successful execution of the detention order reflects the exemplary coordination between Kishtwar Police and the District Administration.

It is pertinent to mention that the accused is a habitual and repeat offender who has been actively involved in bovine smuggling. Despite repeated legal actions, he continued to indulge in unlawful activities.

The preventive detention under PSA is aimed at dismantling the network of bovine smuggling and sending a strong message to anti-social elements involved in such illegal trade.

This action is expected to serve as a strong deterrent to criminals and bovine smugglers operating in the region.

In a stern warning, SSP Kishtwar, warn all individuals involved in bovine smuggling to desist from such unlawful activities. He reiterated that anyone found indulging in such acts will be dealt with strictly as per law.

The SSP also appealed to the general public to extend full cooperation to the police in eradicating bovine smuggling, which remains a serious concern with the potential to disturb peace and law & order in the district. (KNC)
