Srinagar, July 28(GNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has set up a committee to look into the death of a patient at SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina on April 26, 2026.
The order was issued on July 28, a copy which lies with GNS states that the committee will be headed by the Principal of Government Medical College Srinagar. The other two members are the Head of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department at GMC Srinagar and the Medical Superintendent of Children’s Hospital Bemina.
The committee has been asked to check all medical records related to the case. This includes treatment sheets, reports, nursing notes and consent forms.
It will also check if the patient’s worsening condition was handled properly, if monitoring after delivery was done as per rules, and if there was any delay in treatment or surgery.
The committee will also look at whether any mistake or negligence happened and who was responsible. It will suggest steps to avoid such cases in future.
The Principal of SKIMS MCH Bemina has been told to provide all records and cooperate with the committee.
The committee has to submit its report within 15 days.(GNS)
