Addressing a function in Reasi, DGP Prabhat as per news agency, highlighted the evolving approach of the force in tackling security challenges.

“We have changed our strategy and tactics and started moving upwards into higher reaches (jungles and mountains). Whether it is Jhatru or Udhampur-Kathua belt, we are now taking the fight to those areas and confronting the enemy directly,” the DGP said.

Referring to past operations, he added, “You may recall last year’s operation during Mahadev, where we went deep into difficult terrain and eliminated three Pakistani terrorists who were involved in killing 26 innocent civilians in Baisaran.”

Highlighting police-public engagement, he said, “J&K Police shares a very close bond with the community. In the last year alone, around 5300 Thana Diwas programmes were conducted to strengthen public outreach.”

On enforcement measures and griping on drug abuse, DGP stated, “We have arrested 2,276 accused, including 226 under NDPS cases, which is among the highest figures in the country. Additionally, 54 properties have been attached as part of our counter efforts.”

Emphasising youth engagement, he said, “The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are our biggest asset. To channelise their energy, we organised 9 major events and 228 sports activities at the district level.”

Congratulating the new recruits, the DGP said, “On behalf of the entire J&K Police family, I congratulate our brave comrades joining the force today. Your journey ahead will be challenging, but full of opportunities to serve the nation.”
