May 20: Continuing its relentless crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Police Station Lal Bazar demolished an illegal two-storey structure along with an adjoining room and washroom constructed on State land at Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar.
The demolished property, spread over approximately 09 Marlas and worth around ₹1.50 Crore, was found to be linked with a wanted drug peddler namely Arshid Ahmed Sheikh son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh resident of Haka Bazar Lal Bazar, who is involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including FIR No. 31/2025 U/S 8/21, 22 NDPS Act of Police Station Janipur Jammu and FIR No. 50/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Lal Bazar.
The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. The action was executed strictly in accordance with law as part of the sustained efforts to dismantle the illegal infrastructure and financial networks created through narcotics trade.
J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the general public to continue supporting Police by sharing any information related to drug peddling or other illegal activities in their areas.
