Approximately 95,000 students from the Kashmir Division, winter zone areas of the Jammu Division, and the Union Territory of Ladakh are expected to appear in the examinations. This follows the government’s decision to revert to the October-November session for the academic year.
According to the notified schedule, the examinations will commence with Mathematics on November 3, followed by Social Science on November 7. The Science paper is slated for November 11, and the English examination will be conducted on November 14.
Language papers, including Urdu/Hindi, are scheduled for November 17, while Computer Science is on November 19, and Vocational Subjects on November 21. Examinations for subjects with fewer candidates, such as Home Science, will be held on November 23, Music on November 25, and Additional/Optional languages, including Kashmiri, Dogri, Bhoti, Punjabi, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Persian, and Sanskrit, on November 24. The examination session will conclude on November 27 with Painting/Art & Drawing.
In light of disruptions to the academic calendar caused by extreme weather conditions, such as heatwaves, torrential rains, cloudbursts, and floods, the JKBOSE has announced a 15% relaxation in the prescribed syllabus. Accordingly, students will be required to attempt only 85% of the total marks, which will be considered equivalent to 100% for evaluation purposes.
The Board has urged students to approach the exams with seriousness and has reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness in the examination process. It has also directed the invigilation staff to perform their duties with utmost professionalism to uphold the integrity of the examination system.
Additionally, JKBOSE has requested the School Education Department to provide full cooperation to ensure the smooth and impartial conduct of the examinations. (GNS)
