JKSACS launches sensitization programme for Religious Leaders on COVID-19

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 22: Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society has formally launched an IEC campaign on the directions of Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education, to sensitize religious leaders about their role in containing spread of  COVID-19 by motivating people to strictly follow SOPs and guidelines issued by the Government in this regard.

The campaign will be launched across the Union Territory of J&K with the support of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for Kashmir Division and Divisional Commissioner Jammu for Jammu Division.

The first programme was held for the coordination committee of Masajid, Sectors & Mohalla Jaat, Anjum Ground Bemina Srinagar Kashmir for the Mufti’s, Molanas and Mohalla Presidents of District Srinagar Kashmir.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Project Director Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society participated in the Programme.

Chairman Coordination Committee, Haji Mohammad Shafi Shah thanked Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society and all the Ullamas  for conducting this type of awareness programme which is the need of the hour to deal with this global pandemic.

Mufti Ajaz Bandey also gave a detailed sermon on COVID-19 Pandmic in the light of Islam and highlighted the role of Imams in controlling the spread of the pandemic.

Dr.  Javed Malik, Professor & Head, Chest Disease Medicine, SKIMS Hospital Bemina gave a detailed information about the COVID-19 pandemic, its impact on human body and how the transmission can be stopped with strict adherence to the social distancing and wearing of masks during the gatherings at the religious places.

Dr. Rabbanie Tariq, Preventive Medicine Specialist, SPM, GMC Srinagar at COVID Control Room Kashmir requested the participants to strictly follow and also advocate for strict adherence of the SOPs issued by the Government from time to time in order to check the spread of the disease.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Project Director Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society highlighted the need and significance of proper dissemination of information on COVID-19 to the masses and the effective role that the religious leaders can play for curbing the pandemic.

Dr. Syed Sajjad Hussain, Senior Vice-Chairman, Bemina Coordination Committee and Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan presented vote of thanks.
