New Delhi, Dec 25 : A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of seven accused in the Red Fort blast case by another 15 days, officials said.

As per details availablewith news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the court extended the custody of Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay, Jasir Bilal Wani, Amir Rashid Ali and Soyab till January 8.

The accused were produced before Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma at Patiala House Court after the expiry of their earlier remand period amid tight security arrangements. Media persons were not allowed inside the court during the proceedings.

Earlier, different durations of judicial custody had been granted to the accused between December 10 and December 19.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the case, informed the court about the progress of the investigation. According to the agency, the blast was allegedly part of a larger terror conspiracy, with Umar-un-Nabi identified as the main planner who died while driving the explosive-laden vehicle near the Red Fort on November 10.

The NIA has so far arrested multiple accused for allegedly providing logistical, technical and financial support to the terror module. The agency claims that some of the accused helped in arranging the vehicle, modifying drones and providing shelter and assistance to the main conspirator. Further investigation in the case is underway. (KNC)
