Surprise inspections expose record-keeping lapses; strict action under Drugs and Cosmetics Act

Srinagar, Apr 27 : In a major enforcement drive against pharmaceutical irregularities, Drug Control Organisation Anantnag on Monday conducted surprise inspections across multiple locations, leading to the suspension of operations of six medical shops for violations of mandatory norms.

As per news agency Kashmir News Corner—KNC that inspection teams raided several areas including Botengoo Anantnag, Jablipora and Arwani in Bijbehara, where multiple establishments were found failing to maintain proper records of drug sale and purchase, a violation under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Acting promptly, authorities suspended the operations of six medical stores on the spot. The establishments include Healthcare Medical Store Batengoo (Prop. Javid Ahmad Ganie), R.I Pharmacy Jablipora (Prop. Adil Ahmad Bhat), War Alshifa Medical Store Arwani, Shining Medical Store Arwani (Prop. Riyaz Ahmad Bhat), Alshifa Medical Store Arwani (Prop. Fayaz Ahmad), and Healthcare Medical Store Arwani (Prop. Fayaz Ahmad War).

Officials said the action was part of an intensified drive to ensure compliance with drug regulations and to safeguard public health. They added that more such inspections will be carried out across the district.

The Drug Control Organisation has warned that strict legal action will be taken against any medical establishment found violating norms, reiterating its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the pharmaceutical sector. (KNC)
