Light Rain, Snow Likely in J&K; Farmers Advised to Suspend Farm Work: MeT

Srinagar, Mar 7: The Meteorological Department on Saturday forecasted generally cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next several days, officials said.

Director MeT Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that from March 7 to 9, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light rain and snowfall over higher reaches at isolated places.

He said that from March 10 to 12, the region is likely to witness generally cloudy conditions with light rain and snowfall over higher reaches at many places. Some higher altitude areas of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Anantnag may receive moderate snowfall during this period.

From March 13 to 15, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light rain or snow at isolated places in higher reaches, he said, adding that similar conditions are likely to persist during March 16 and 17.

Meanwhile, the MeT department has issued an advisory for farmers, asking them to suspend farm operations from March 10 to 12 in view of the expected weather activity.

Dr Ahmad also said that day temperatures are likely to fall by 4–6°C after March 9 at many places across the Union Territory till March 12. (JKNS)
