Srinagar, July 10 (GNS): The Meteorological Department has forecast generally hot and humid conditions in Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days, with intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers, and issued an advisory for heavy rainfall and possible landslides in vulnerable areas.

An official of MeT Centre Srinagar told GNS that on 10 July weather will remain generally hot and humid with a spell of rain or thundershower at scattered places. Brief intense heavy showers are likely at a few places in Jammu Division.

On 11-12 July, one or two spells of rain or thundershower are expected at many places. Heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers are likely at isolated places in Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range of Jammu Division.

From 13-16 July, weather will remain generally hot and humid with brief spells of rain or thundershower at scattered places. Brief intense showers are likely at isolated places of Jammu Division.

Between 17-19 July, fresh spells of light to moderate rain and thundershower are expected at many places.

In its advisory, the department has warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall and brief intense heavy showers during 11-12 July at a few places towards afternoon hours and early morning or morning hours.

There is also a possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at a few vulnerable places in Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal Range.

People have been advised to stay away from nallas, streams and mudslide prone areas.(GNS)
