Srinagar: In a latest development, members of District Development Council in Budgam on Thursday moved a no confidence motion against the council Chairman – highly likely to go through as almost all the members have signed the resolution.
As per details available with Alfaaz – The Words, the incumbent DDC Chairman Nazir Ahmad Khan, has been facing sharp dissent from the council members over allegations that the Council Chairman has failed to convene any meeting of the Council for the last one-and-a-half year.
The council members have also alleged Khan of interfering in the Constituencies of other members even as resorting to routine misconduct with them (Council members).
Nazir Ahmad Khan, who was stripped of the mandate on PAGD party by PDP on the last minute in 2020 contested DDC elections independently.
Khan who survived a no confidence on 17 August 2021, has slim chances to stand this time around as almost all the members of the Council have signed on the resolution to revoke his Chairmanship.
The final outcome of the resolution, presented before Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo, is awaited.
The resolution against the DDC Chairman in Budgam comes just days after a resolution was presented by DDC members in Srinagar district.
The development within the Councils’ is being witnessed after the Government of Jammu and Kashmir recently amended Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Rules, 1996, empowering the DDC members by defining the rules for removal of the Chairpersons and the Vice Chairpersons.
