Srinagar, October 5: The Kashmir Marathon, scheduled to take place from November 2, is set to draw participants from across India and abroad, according to officials associated with the event.

Officials from the organizing committee told Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that so far, runners from 21 Indian States and Union Territories have registered for the marathon, along with foreign nationals representing five countries, reflecting continued confidence in Kashmir’s sporting and tourism potential.

“The registrations show that both domestic and international athletes are eager to visit the Valley. We expect more participants to join in the coming weeks,” said a senior official.

The Srinagar marathon aims to promote sports tourism, healthy lifestyles, and public engagement. Participants will run through breathtaking scenery, including Dal Lake and the Zabarwan mountains, with the route offering stunning views of Chinar trees and landscaped beauty, providing a scenic and culturally immersive experience.

Officials said that the combination of ideal climate, rich cultural heritage, and warm local hospitality makes the Kashmir Marathon a scenic, culturally immersive, and adventurous experience for all participants.

Security officials said preparations for the marathon are proceeding as planned, with enhanced security measures, crowd management, and coordination to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators.

Tourism and sports experts said that the marathon is expected to boost local businesses, hospitality, and the wider tourism sector, encouraging both domestic and international visitors to explore the Valley during the event.

Organizers remain assured that the marathon will proceed successfully and contribute to reviving tourism, fostering public participation, and highlighting Kashmir as a safe, vibrant, and culturally rich destination. (KDC)
