Baramulla, Dec 19: (GNS) People in general and the students in particular are suffering due to absence of the Naib Tehsildar of revenue division Uri in this border town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Authorities have made three revenue divisions for tehsil Uri which include Uri, Jullah and Paranpelan. However, the Naib Tehsildar of Boniyar Habibullha Mir, who has been assigned additional charge for Uri, is not seen in office for the last one month.
Due to absence of the Naib Teshildar, nearly a dozen villages – Lagama, Bandi, Machikrand, Garkote, Nambla, Silikote, Balkote, Thajal, Tilawari, Chrunda etc. – and the student community are suffering.
The locals of these villages told GNS that the process of Resident of Backward Area certificates, Phari Speaking certificates (PSP), Domicile certificates, Migration certificates and many other works, has been halted due to absence of the Naib Tehsildar.
“I have been coming here (tehsil office) for the last one month for Phari Speaking certificate but the Naib Tehsildar is not available,” Naseer Ahmad, a resident of Uri, told GNS.
Some of the locals present outside the tehsil office said they approached the concerned authorities several times but “nobody gives a clear answer as to where the Naib Tehsildar is”.
I have applied for an RBA certificate three months ago but I am yet to receive it, Saddam Hussain, a student from Uri, told GNS.
“The officials here also don’t know where the Naib Tehsildar is. They told me the certificate cannot be issued till the Naib Tehsildar comes. What shall I do now?” Saddam said.
The people here are suffering a lot due to absence of the Naib Tehsildar, said Advocate Mumtaz Ahmad Beigh, of Uri. “Due to absence of the official, our clients are unable to get revenue papers,” he said.
However, a senior official from the revenue department told GNS that he will look into the matter. (GNS)
