April 19: In a continued crackdown against the drug menace, Police in Budgam have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A Police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Karipora Crossing near Railway Station Budgam, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Sajad Rafiq Bhat son of Rafiq Ahmad Bhat resident of Muqdam Mohallah Sheikpora Budgam. During search, Heroin-like substance weighing about 9.9 grams was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 83/2025 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated. We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
