July 09: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party of Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Arreh, Kulgam intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No JK05B-4138 driven by Waseem Ahmad Dar son of Habibullah Dar resident of Shadab Krewah, Shopian. During search, Poppy Straw like substance weighing 5.6 Kgs filled in a bag was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 72/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
