March 25: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Police in Budgam have booked eight drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in Budgam since Jan-2025. Booked drug peddlers identified as Nazir Ahamd Sheikh resident of Tangnar Chadoora, Mohd Sultan Bhat resident of Sholipora, Mohd Altaf Ganie resident of Dardpora, Farooq Ahamd Sheikh resident of Tangnar Chadoora, Abdul Hameed Dar resident of Sholipora, Reyaz Ahamd Ahanger resident of Shandpora Watakuloo, Mehraj Ahmad Mir resident of Choon Budgam and Mohd Rafiq Dar resident of Russu.
The police remain committed to eradicating the drug trade and ensuring a safer, drug-free society. Strict legal action is being taken against those involved in narcotic smuggling, reflecting the firm resolve of law enforcement agencies to protect the youth from the dangers of substance abuse.
