Police Books Two Persons for Assaulting Doctor in Pulwama Hospital

Pulwama, May 22: A doctor posted at District Hospital Pulwama was allegedly assaulted while on duty on Friday, officials said.

According to reports, Dr. Omar Khan, son of Mohammad Yousuf Khan and a resident of Qamarwari, was allegedly attacked by two attendants identified as Tariq Ahmad Khanday and Shariq Ahmad Khanday, both sons of Ghulam Qadir Khanday and residents of Uthmullah.

The incident reportedly took place inside the hospital premises while the doctor was performing his official duties. The accused allegedly assaulted the doctor using an iron chair and other objects, resulting in injuries to him.

Following the incident, Police Station Pulwama registered an FIR under No. 96/2026 under Section 121 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Hospital staff and medical fraternity members have expressed concern over the incident and demanded strict action against those involved.[KNT]
