Police cracks down on gambling activities in Anantnag; 06 held, ₹18,260 seized

May 16: Continuing its efforts to curb unlawful activities and maintain public order, Police in Anantnag apprehended six persons involved in gambling in the Pahalgam area.

Police party of Police Station Pahalgam, while conducting routine patrolling at Lidder Park near Sumo Stand No. 1, Pahalgam, noticed some individuals gambling openly in a public place with stake money. Acting promptly, the police party apprehended all the involved persons on the spot.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Mohd Amin Lone son of Ab Aziz Lone resident of Pahalgam, Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ismail Dar resident of Pahalgam, Ab Rehman Raina son of Ab Gani Raina resident of Pahalgam, Nazir Ahmad Lone son of Ab Khaliq Lone resident of Pahalgam, Gh Nabi Mir son of Ali Mohd Mir resident of Wullarhama and Lateef Ahmad Laway son of Gh Qadir Laway resident of Veersaran.

During the operation, playing cards along with stake money amounting to ₹18,260 were recovered and seized from their possession.

Police have taken cognisance under relevant provisions of law and further proceedings have been initiated.

J&K Police urges the public to cooperate with police and report any unlawful activities in their areas.
