April 08: Continuing its sustained drive against unauthorized service providers in the tourist destination of Sonamarg, Police conducted a special enforcement operation under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sonamarg.
During the drive, one individual identified as Muzafar Ahmad Khatana son of Gh Nabi Khatana, resident of Sumbal Bala Gund, Ganderbal, was found operating at the tourist resort Sonamarg using a forged license. Acting promptly, Police took cognizance of the offence and registered a case vide FIR No. 04/2026 under relevant sections of law, at Police Station Sonamarg and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
It is pertinent to mention that in previous drives, 23 Unauthorized Service Providers operating in violation of provisions of the Tourist Trade Act, 1978 were detained and fined accordingly.
Police reiterate its commitment to ensuring a safe, lawful, and tourist-friendly environment in Sonamarg and urges all stakeholders to strictly adhere to legal provisions. The general public and visitors are also advised to avail services only from authorized and registered providers.
