Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Baramulla; Four Vehicles Seized

July 24: Continuing its sustained crackdown against illegal mining and the unlawful extraction of minor minerals, Police in Baramulla, in coordination with the Geology & Mining Department, carried out a successful enforcement operation in the Kunzer area.

Police Station Kunzer, acting on credible information and in coordination with the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Geology & Mining Department, seized four vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of Nala Bajri/Nala Mouq from Pariswani Nallah. The seized vehicles include Tipper bearing Registration No. JK02BV-9097, driven by Mohd Yousuf Parra son of Gh. Mohiuddin, Tractor bearing Chassis No. NHM3630SZKC, driven by Mudasir Ahmad Beigh son of Abdul Aziz resident of Peth Kanihama, Tractor bearing Chassis No. WSCM61618945, driven by Shakir Hamid War son of Abdul Hamid resident of Peth Kanihama, Dumper bearing Registration No. JK05G-4016, driven by Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Akbar resident of Agri Kalan.

The seized vehicles were handed over to the officials of the Geology & Mining Department, who imposed penalties/fines under the relevant provisions of the mining laws. Further legal action has been initiated as per law.

J&K Police remains committed to taking strict action against illegal mining activities that threaten the environment and public resources. Such enforcement drives will continue across the district in close coordination with the concerned departments to preserve natural resources and ensure strict compliance with the law.
