April 19: In a significant breakthrough, Police in Budgam have solved a theft case registered at Police Station Chadoora and recovered stolen copper utensils, while apprehending the accused persons involved in the commission of the offence.

During the course of investigation of FIR No. 32/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Chadoora, multiple raids were conducted at various locations, including shops, to trace and recover the stolen property.

Acting on specific human intelligence, a police team of Police Station Chadoora conducted a search operation at Main Chowk Wathoora, which led to the recovery of stolen copper utensils worth approximately ₹40,000 from a shop.

During the investigation, the shopkeeper, identified as Abdul Rehman Bhat, resident of Hanjigund, was apprehended and taken into custody. Upon sustained questioning, he disclosed that the stolen property had been sold to him by a juvenile on the pretext of financial distress.

Further investigation led to the identification of two more juveniles involved in the commission of the crime. Both the juveniles in conflict with law have admitted their involvement in the theft, which occurred during the intervening night of 26/27 February 2026.

All accused have been taken into custody, and relevant legal provisions have been invoked. Further investigation of the case is underway.
