Srinagar, June 24 (GNS): National Conference on Wednesday said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir has been left in lurch due to the unpresented chaos in recruitment, competitive exams and service commissions and that hardworking, meritorious and qualified youth of J&K are being pushed to wall with every passing day.
A per a statement issued here to GNS, after presiding over a meeting at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar Party’s North Zone President and Member of Parliament from Baramulla Muhammad Akbar Lone said that the present government has denied all safe spaces to the youth of J&K to carry on their vocations. “Contrary to the much touted claim of GoI to win the hearts and minds of youth, it has incessantly been closing every avenue for them. There is no outreach programme in place to alleviate the concerns and sufferings of unemployed youth of J&K. The new domicile policy has added to the worries of our youth. Seeing no light at the end of the tunnel most of our educated youth have yielded to anxiety and psychological frustration.  No new posts are being advertised; those being advertised take years to fill due to the unchecked red-tapism, nepotism and corruption. Government on its part has failed to come up with policies to give a flip to entrepreneurship activities and speeding up the filling of empty posts in government departments.  The much touted employment extravaganza has remained confined to black and white and has not seen light of the day. Youth who had started their own adventures are mulling to give it up due to the inconsiderate approach of the government towards the glitches they are facing due to the COVID-19 induced economic meltdown and Post August 05 clampdown,” Lone said.
The situation of contractual, daily wagers and need based employees is no better, he said while expressing concern over their plight. “We see the poor lot on roads agitating for their rights, regularization and timely payment of monthly remuneration. So far the government has failed to address their rightful demands,” he said.
Reflecting on the issues faced by the local traders, agriculturalists and people associated with tourism, transport and handicraft sector, Party’s Member of Parliament said the government has failed to confront the problem and that the businessmen, traders and agriculturalists have been left to their own fate.
Party’s Provincial Secretary Showkat Mir criticized the disproportionate bifurcation of J&K house in New Delhi between Ladakh and J&K. “The way the present ruling dispensation is distributing assets between Ladakh and J&K is irrational and fraught with anomalies. How can a region with around 2.5 lakh population become an equal partner with J&K which has more than 12 million souls as per 2011 census? It is prejudiced, bereft of any rationale and is a pure case of wanton and orchestrated plunder aimed to suck every pint of blood from the people, who are yet to come to terms with what was done on the 5th of august last year,” Mir said.
It seems that measures that were unilaterally taken on 5th of august last weren’t enough, he said adding that what is happening is a part of conscious avenge, present ruling dispensation is taking from the people of J&K.  “The disproportionate distribution of assets between J&K and Ladakh gives a ditch to all established norms and legality.  Ideally the government should have waited for the verdict of the Supreme Court on the validation of illegal, unconstitutional measures taken on 5th of august last year but it has chosen otherwise. Apart from the disproportionate population ratio, the revenue contribution of Ladakh to the state is negligible as compared to the Kashmir and Jammu divisions. It seems to be a self serving yardstick which has been employed by New Delhi,” he said.
Among others Peer Afaq Ahmed, Syed Muhammad Rafiq Shah, Syed Tauqeer Ahmed, Irshad Kar, Shafkat Ahmed Watali were also present. A resolution seeking an end to the house detention of all party leaders was passed on the occasion.
Meanwhile Party President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday expressed grief over the demise of the aunt of party Member and former district sessions judge Syed Tauqeer Ahmed.
Party president expressed solidarity with the mournful family and prayed for eternal repose to the departed soul.
Among others Party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, district President Anantnag Altaf Kaloo have also extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. (GNS)
