Srinagar: (GNS) Residents of Rambagh and its adjoining areas have expressed serious resentment over the “failed” traffic mechanism at Rambagh-Natipora junction which has been witnessing jam the whole day. The commuters too have voiced the same concern saying the regular traffic snarl at the spot has taken a heavy toll on their mental health.

Imran Bashir, from Chanapora, said he used to reach office late due to traffic jam at the junction “which sometimes lasts for hours”.

“After regularly reaching office late at Batamaloo, I decided to take the otherwise long route via Sanat Nagar bye-pass. I was fed up with this Natipora route. Now, I make it on time,” Imran said.

Another commuter Ishfaq Ahmad, who also lives in Chanapora, echoed similar views.
He said though everybody is disturbed by this daily gridlock at this road, the students, businessman and employees are the worst hit as it has taken a heavy toll on their mental health.
Ishfaq has no personal vehicle leaving him with no option but to come in passenger transport. “There is hardly a day when I don’t get stuck in traffic jam for several minutes. Now, I leave home an hour earlier in order to reach office on time,” he said.

The agitated residents said the round-the-day traffic jam has made their life “a hell”.
They have appealed the authorities to find some “out of box” solution to the “grave” issue and devise a “long term mechanism” for smooth passage of traffic in the area.(GNS)
