Srinagar: Peoples Conference president and MLA Sajad Gani Lone has submitted key amendments to the Lieutenant Governor’s address, raising concerns related to the safety of Kashmiris outside the Union Territory, regularisation of daily wagers, and the age limit for candidates appearing in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service examination.

As per the business list circulated by the Assembly Secretariat, Lone has proposed an amendment expressing regret over the absence of any reference to attacks on Kashmiri students, traders, and hawkers reported in several States and Union Territories. The amendment seeks a formal condemnation of such incidents and recognition of the issue in the LG’s address.

Lone has also flagged long-pending employment concerns, and has called for concrete steps towards regularisation of daily wage workers, citing prolonged delays and uncertainty affecting thousands of families.

In another proposal, Lone has sought enhancement of the upper age limit for open merit candidates appearing in the JKAS examination. The amendment proposes raising the age cap from 32 years to 37 years, arguing that aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir face unique disruptions due to administrative and socio-political conditions.

The proposed amendments are expected to be taken up during the discussion on the Lieutenant Governor’s address in the ongoing Assembly session.
