Srinagar, Oct 2: (GNS) Seasonal Mobile Teachers on Friday held a protest demonstration here at Manzgam area of south-Kashmir’s Kulgam district, demanding regularisation and enhancement of monthly wages.

According to GNS correspondent, the Forum of Seasonal Teachers (also known as Education Volunteers) president Shabir Ahmad Chaudhary while talking to media said the teachers working as ‘Education Volunteers’ have been facing a lot of hardships for over a decade now. “We have been receiving mere four-thousand rupees per month since 2006”, Shabir said, adding, “We urge the government to enhance our wages as we are unable to fulfill our basic needs with this meagre amount.”

“We are exposed to all sort of uncertainties for the government is even yet to formulate any job policy for us,” Shabir said, adding, “For years, we have to apply anew each year to get inducted as teachers for a period of just six months.”

Urging the Governer-led adminstration to take notice of the grievances, the agitated teachers expressed hope that the concerns will be given due consideration this time around.

“We also urge Director Education Asgar Samoon to intervene into the matter and redress our genuine issue at the earliest possible time”, they said. (GNS)
